RIP Sean Kingston II: Son of Goodburger

An online tragedy archived by Reid Paskiewicz. A special thanks to those who care about the truth in social media: Tim Beansprout, Chareth Cutestory, Aleksey Ioseliani, Zack Parsons, Justin A. Beastman, Rachel Erleichda, Erika Nelson, Nik Price, Alexander King, Erik Hansen, and Jon Hendren.
On May 29, 2011, Sean Kingston was riding a jet ski with a female passenger in Miami, Florida when he slammed into a bridge and was killed. Only hours after the incident, social media sites like Facebook and Twitter exploded with news that Mr. Kingston died in the incident, causing an outpouring of grief. A memorial page on Facebook called "RIP Sean Kingston" was created to remember the young artist and to update fans on the latest news of this terrible event.
Unfortunately, the freedom of social media also allows for misinformation to be spread. It is hard to believe but some people (called trolls) purposly spread lies to create confusion for their own amusement. A flood of teens invaded the page with news that Sean lived, recovered in the hospital, was discharged, and is now putting on concerts. It was sickening. The archive of this event is to show the dangers of relying on sites like Facebook, Twitter, and Wikipedia for accurate data instead of getting all your fair and balanced news from Fox News.
In the first few moments of the accident, chaos in the blogosphere reigned. Fans screamed and tore their hair out in aungush. Like vultures to a fresh kill, the trolls swarmed in right away to refute the fact of Sean's death and to give the poor fans hope that the Jamacian superstar would sing agan.

Many questions of his death were answered quickly to give fast resolution to worried fans so the greiving process can start. Local news anchor for Miami WKBS, Tim Beansprout, did some deep investigative journelsim into the story and updated fans as soon as he had a hot lead. A win for the democratic free press.

June marked the start of the major "Lifer" invasion. Some were tricked by clever fake news stories that they linked, some were just fans in denial, and some were causing trouble just for the kicks. The latter literally have no life, much like Sean. It took a lot of effort for Sean's true fans to fight this information jihad aginst the truth.
